What happens if help is more than an hour away? Wilderness and remote environments require specialized skills, equipment and training. Whether you are an outdoor recreation enthusiast, live or work in a wilderness or remote setting, or work as a professional rescuer, the Red Cross Wilderness & Remote First Aid Program has something to meet your needs.

Remote First Aid (formerly Wilderness & Remote First Aid) is a 20-hour course suitable for indivduals who live or work in non-urban, remote or wilderness workplaces or communities. You will learn skills and strategies for providing care in a remote setting for up to 24 hours through learning activities and scenarios with real-life situations specifically designed for wilderness and remote environments.

• Environmental emergencies

Course Schedule


Friday 6:00pm-9:30pm at Island Motorcycle Company on Cloverdale

Saturday and Sunday 8:00am-4:30pm at Enduro Park Canada Course

First Aid certificates are now virtual! You will receive a temporary certificate at the end of your course, and your certificate will be emailed to you after the course has taken place. 

Canadian Red Cross First Aid App The official Canadian Red Cross First Aid app puts lifesaving advice in your hands. Available for Apple and Android mobile devices, the app helps you maintain your first aid skills and respond to everyday emergencies. By downloading the app on your smartphone or tablet, you get instant access to videos (like the one below), interactive quizzes and simple step-by-step advice to help you maintain your life-saving skills and respond when needed. It is even fully integrated with 911, so you can call EMS from the app at any time.
